c3) The Nuclear Bomb

There is little need to write about nuclear bombs because everybody knows what it can do. So far we have heard about hydrogen bombs, uranium bombs and plutonium bombs, but there will be more during the 21st century. All nuclear energies are extremely powerful and dangerous, but easily acquired in every solar planets. Because by releasing the nuclear energy from any small amount substance, it is possible to obtain huge supply of energy, not just on earth, but in any solar planets. Within the 21st century, not only global warming can be contained with the use of nuclear energy, but also space migration must use it. On the moon or planet Mars Nuclear energy may be used for excavation for underground living shelters, for making oxygenated air and air conditioning, for artificial light or energy to grow vegetations for food, for millions of other applications to enable life in the solar planets possible. Nuclear energy taken from any material nuclei will be the future not only on earth to replace mineral oil or coal, but also for life in space for millions of years to come. Nuclear energy is the ultimate energy for continuation of life...

So far nuclear energy is more easily released from radioactive materials, but in future many other materials may be used. Clearly it means that nature has given mankind the energy to travel, even to migrate, out of this planet soon. Meantime, the growth in human population is increasing in exponential rate. If we are to continue enjoying in luxury the living, traveling, communication, etc., etc., we  will need clean energies. Very soon global warming is going to force the use of clean nuclear energies. No amounts of solar, wind and hydraulic energies etc., are going to be enough for the growing human demands. Plantation or vegetable oils can continue to produce carbon dioxide to pollute the environments. Other powers, such as air for use of power generation are too expensive and also inadequate for growing human consumption. Everything points to the future use of nuclear energy...  If submarines can be safely powered by nuclear energy, very soon large ocean going ships, starting with cargo ships, will be nuclear powered, to be followed by trains and railways, and whatever else! All that can be done within the next decade or two. In fact, during the life time of humans who are living today, large building constructions, huge highways and canals can be built and dug, even mountains can be removed, all using nuclear power and large automatic machines. Nuclear wastage may be sent to Saturn or Pluto to help warming up those remote planets... Before too long a global cooperative may be established allowing big and small nation to share in investments for explorations on Mars, where nuclear powered excavation machines would be sent to build underground living quarters for humans with controlled environments, and for breaking down inorganic materials and making into organic matters as well as foods, air and water for human consumption... All that can be done in the next decades...

So, who is going to stop researching and  working on nuclear technology? In short, nuclear technology cannot be halted, nor stopped, for any reasons. Some nations are already dependant on nuclear energy for large scale or majority national power production (France's national power generation is over 80% nuclear and Japan follows closely by). And as the technology develops further, millions of nuclear technicians and engineers will populate the world, which is inevitable. Bomb materials can be hidden, in existing mines, thousands of feet below ground and with such long Half Life, hundreds of years later still just as devastating... Well, at least the secret of making nuclear bombs is already out of the bag. Nuclear wars signify sudden death to a huge quantities of people. A whole family or a town or city can be destroyed at any time. So, which family is it going to be? Yours or mine? Will the victory seeking politicians risk his own life or his family's, or just yours? And how much is victory over human life really worth?

One man with political power can trigger off a nuclear war. It's even possible to use a trained human clone to do it. Due to the long "half life" of radioactive materials, nuclear pollution can render the planet unlivable for millenniums. And yet, any future invasions or aggressions, be they military or ideological, political or religious, will bring all humans steps closer to nuclear wars... Thus human civilization has entered a totally different phase. Wars and invasions are becoming prohibitive. The question is what to do now? Or who is going to get truly wised up? And yet, the nuclear power generation is already everywhere on earth. Some countries possess tens of nuclear power stations. It's impossible today or in the future to stop a nation from generating nuclear power or research for the technology. The use of threats or force to stop others from nuclear power generation can only intensify efforts of national defense. Two or three decades from now every nation on earth could be using nuclear power generation.

No doubt, there are always some politicians who think it's worth the risk to take actions, in order to save face, or for some short term advantages, or to share those advantages with their allies. Unfortunately, as long as the danger of nuclear devastation is equal for all, someone else would also take the risk  The efforts to stop the great danger for everybody must therefore come from the grass roots because historically the leaders never did care (well, most leaders). Social energy, just like ecological energies, is a cumulative energy. Such accumulated energy can erupt like an earthquake. Some societies have learned from hundreds of years of sacrifices, and have found new wisdom and new will power to pursuit a new life, other societies have accumulated centuries of bad blood, waiting for a chance to blow up... I have started to write these pages, originally because of Hong Kong and because of Halley comet's possible disturbance, but I don't like to smell any smoke of fire or gun powder anywhere, especially Taiwan, so I decided to sound off the alarm. Only alarms should be loud and strong enough to be heard. So, here we are!

Needless to say, between endangered allies the transfer of military technologies between each other can be expected. Or private and retired nuclear technicians world wide would help out, for after all, the next war could be a terminal war for one and all. Besides, already they are forming coalitions, and every new war they make these days is a coalition of allies, whether it's really needed or not. So in fact all future wars will be between grouped nations, or literally everyone in the world will be involved. It's not likely that some people would be able to sit around and watch the show. Fires always spread to neighbours. You can be sure, the next big aggression is going to drive a large number of nations to make nuclear weapons by hook or by crook, treaty or no treaty. Treaties are made for breaking if the crisis of life or death is real. Then again, if someday unfortunately somewhere next door a bomb should accidentally go off , it should be enough to send the whole world scrambling for everybody's underground nuclear storage. This day is most likely to come sooner or later, and the trend is not likely to reverse too! In a real nuclear age conventional weapons lose their threats. Large conventional aircraft carriers may turn into huge coffins. Military barracks may become mass burial grounds. That's why the nuclear age is a time bomb slowly ticking away....  The way to prevent a nuclear world war is not to write more treaties or to systematically or forcibly nip off all the sprouts of nuclear potentials around the world, because not only we are already deep in it, but also the world is in dire need of nuclear power generation, and the need is obviously on the increase. The only way to stop the potential nuclear war is to stop the aggressive or threatening behaviors of those wrong kinds of politicians. How to make that possible will soon be the urgent concern and talk of every human being on earth.

Even without nuclear weapons the world is dangerous enough these days. Technologies and parts for electronic automation, memory chips of for weapons' intelligence are everywhere. Digital controls are so easily understood and produced. Even small repair shops for computers, cameras and mobile phones can understand automation technology these days. School kids are designing robots for competition. Small missiles from the air, land and underwater can come like showers, each carrying intelligent programs. Thousands of new versions of automatic weapons can be made now.  More thousands of new ways to use them are possible. Passenger aircrafts can be used as bombs, as human-piloted or auto-piloted weapons. Meanwhile, how many defense weapons can an aircraft carrier or an army barrack carry? The more they stock them, the bigger they could explode!  The 21st century weaponry doesn't even need size or power, just large numbers and automation of small weapons would do it. And any nation on earth can make them within a couple of years or months, even days, once a real war begins. Only nations that have just been devastated by war gave no threat temporarily. How can aggression or threats reverse the hatred or stop the search for advanced weapon technology?

Wars never really benefited anybody in any permanent sense. Alexander the Great of Macedonia conquered parts of Europe, Middle East, all the way to India, but died young in his military campaign. In the end, his forces went back to Greece. The Roman Empire eventually retreated back to Italian Peninsula. Genghis Khan went as far as the Danube river then back to Mongolia. The Turkish Ottoman Empire occupied a greater part of Europe, Middle East and India, but finished back in Turkey. The Spanish Empire returned from Southern America back to Spain. The Austrian Empire shrank back to Austria. The British Empire retreat to British Isles. Hitler's Germany ended up back in Germany and Japanese back to tiny Japan... None of these warring nations gained anything real and permanent, except for waste of lives, lives of their own soldiers and others. For each life that perishes in war, hundreds of would be off-springs perish with it. If Europe had not had wars since the days of Roman Empire, how many more European soldiers would have lived to produce offspring? How much bigger would have become the European populations today? And what could be more valuable than life? Certainly not war bounties. A few years of commercial boom could surpass the biggest war bounties in history. Some took home bounties in the form of slaves, but soon enough those bounties turned out to be something they can't get rid of.  Then sooner or later they would have to pay back in one way or another for what they've done. War killings create generations of hatred and revenge. There are enough hatreds around, and now suddenly we are afraid of other people's nuclear bombs. So who has won or lost all those wars? There are no such things as Super Powers, just super trouble makers, or super immaturity. Because for very cause there is always an effect.  Hostile causes bring hostile consequence. Gentile deeds give gentile rewards!

On the other hand, the ancient China had the people, the size, the resources, the history and the know how, but she began her 5000 years history by passing the rein of  rule onto young men of best qualities, found amongst the grass roots, brought to the capital and trained by the presiding emperor, in order for him to succeed the rein. Already at that remote time of Chinese civilization, farming lands were divided equally and democratically  amongst people in a system called "Well Farms" that resembled the graphic sign [#]. In this system 8 families would build a farming commune to work on the 8 outer divisions of communal land, while the center piece of land would be tended by all to produce for the State (similar to modern tax)... Such ancient democratic culture would in time give birth to a complex system of social philosophy, initiated and detailed by Confucius 2500 years ago, which was gladly observed by both emperors and commoners alike, and proudly remembered through out history. Then for 1300 years (7th century till early 20th century) the land of China would be governed by officials chosen fairly from the populace by a system of exams. Ancient China left no relics of brutal external military conquests, nor marks of absolute rules from supernatural God or Gods, but she left a huge tradition of social courtesy and mutual respect for the young and the old and among all people as well as in the family. She left no marks for lust of human slaughters only countless antiques artifacts in silk, jade, porcelain, etc., etc., only for personal and family enjoyments ... Also a comprehensive and detailed knowledge of herbal medicines, acupuncture, which are highly valued by modern medical science, and  papers and printing press for centuries of communication and expression... and endless varieties of sophisticated cuisine. The entire civilization portrays 5000 years of devotion to humanitarian expression based on the individual and the family, not political, religious or military conquests. The Chinese history is a history of true democracy without consciously giving it the name... It is for that reason China becomes the most populous nation on earth, and yet, her people and her civilization can always recover, revive and rise at will...

So, judging from the development of entire human history, humanity now carries 3 time bombs in her midst (i.e. political religion, untrue democracy and nuclear weaponry), which are slowly nut irreversibly ticking away. However, judging from the rate of advance in human awareness during the last 50 years, it shouldn't need a complete century to see those bombs diffused, though the possibility of explosion is still real. Unfortunately even if they don't explode in violence, they would plaque humanity with fatal deceases and threats. Unless those slow but vicious cancerous growth in human mind, in man made superstitious belief and in politics, accumulated over centuries of history be removed, the human psyche cannot rest in peace, nor function healthily and civilization cannot embark on its proper course. There will always be psycho complexes and political misgivings, then international conflicts and wars can never stop. And in nuclear warfare no one knows when, where and which town or family might be obliterated.... In other words, because the wrong kind of belief in religion and politics are penetrating wider and deeper into global societies, which seems to have picked up speed in recent years, if the hidden explosives are not neutralized or defused, then soon human civilization must face colossal explosions. All that's needed is a trigger or some means of detonation. And the cause that leads to detonation often doesn't need be overwhelming or overwhelmingly significant. The 1st World War was begun by the assassination of  an Austrian Archduke Francis Ferdinand. Then Germany lost the war, so the 1st World War laid the groundwork for the 2nd World War, which then led to nuclear explosion in Hiroshima...  A small beginning can end up big! Sometimes the start of wars may be planned and designed, but the consequence of wars are never predictable!

Now let me finish this page by reporting the oldest science, yet at the same time it is also the newest science in the world. Well, ever since the beginning of civilization (say 5000 years ago)  humans have been observing the cosmos. They found regular patterns of motions and many other phenomena of solar planets that affect human life and events on earth, which would in time become understandable and predictable. Although some believed that solar phenomena were divine manifestations and planets were gods, and so mythological deities were worshipped, others continued to observe and learn to predict those cosmic phenomena. Today we know these things are just cosmic bodies that human made machines can visit. However, whilst supernatural beliefs came and went, the study of cosmic phenomena developed into a course of knowledge. Such knowledge were confirmed and correlated by other observers in different lands and cultures that it would become a specialized discipline of science, called Astrology. Astrology worked rather well and consistently for thousands of years, but could not prove its true accuracy and exactness until recent years. Only when the daily motions of sun and planets, including their finest tiny perturbations have become accurately calculated in recent decades that Astrology quickly reassures its importance as a modern science. Therefore, it's the oldest, yet newest, science...

In recent years the University of Paris had given a Ph.D award to professional astrologer Madam Elizabeth Teissier. An University grade educational institute called Kepler College, for dedicated study of astrology, was established under official grant from educational authorities in the United States. Many other universities around the world are doing research on it.... According to thousands of years of astrological and astronomical observations, it has been established that due to the wobble of Earth's pole on its axis, the vernal equinox (sun at zero degree of Aries) slowly moves backwards, describing a circle, along the plane of ecliptic through the 12 Signs or constellations of the Zodiac. As a result the Earth experiences changes of energy in the solar environment producing a succession of great ages affecting events in civilization and ecology on earth. As this backward motion of vernal equinox describes a completes circle once every 26,000 years, dividing the Zodiac into 12 equal Signs giving 12 ages, each age therefore lasts 2160 years. The beginning of an age occurs when the Vernal Equinox enters a new constellation. The vernal equinox has now moved into the Constellation of Aquarius, therefore we are now living in the Aquarian Age (the 11th Sign of the Zodiac).

As different scholars interpret the boundaries of Aquarian  Constellation differently, there are various opinions on the timing of entry into Aquarian Age, which is the age of science, of invention, of nuclear energy, of space technology and also of an age of much greater universal or cosmological revelation. This, in my view, is just the beginning. There had been two historical junctions giving immeasurable change in human civilization that could have announced the arrival of Aquarian Age. The first is Copernicus' revelation of the solar system, and the the second is the nuclear explosion of Hiroshima as well as the sputnik, the man made satellite. Both occurred within a short time. I think the later is far more characteristic of the Aquarian Age. However we are still receiving some Piscean Age energy, but greatly reduced, because although the Vernal Equinox has become the so called Progressed Ascendant in Aquarius, its First House still covers most of Pisces. Another phenomenon that supports my assessment is that roughly some 2100 years ago an age of religion descended upon Roman Empire that led to the birth of Christianity, which affected and changed the entire Western World. This was the beginning of the Age of Pisces, the age of religion. Anyhow, all scholars agree that we have already entered the Age of Aquarius and we are experiencing the influences and energy of that age.

Due to constant observation of stars and planets moving through the 12 Signs or Constellations of the Zodiac, astrologers have learned to understand the characteristics and influences of each Zodiacal Sign. Aquarius is the 11th Sign of the Zodiac, ruled by planet Uranus. I will not explain here how astrologers come to determine the astrological meaning and nature of Aquarius, because it would take a small book. I can only state here briefly the findings of astrology. Aquarian Age is known to be the age of science, technology, pure logics, philosophy, discoveries, inventions, flashes of inspiration, freedom, travel, social and political revolutions and revelations, individual expression and freedom of thinking as well as humanitarianism. Revelations include the understanding of the human origin and his relationship with the rest of nature. It is also the age of electric, electronic, digital, nuclear energy and explosion, aviation, space and radioactive technologies and cosmology, etc., then of course there is also the unthinkable chance of nuclear wars. Meanwhile the influence of the last age, the Piscean Age, is much weakened or on the way out. The Piscean Age, ruled or energized by planet Neptune and traditionally symbolized by two fishes swimming in opposing directions is known to embrace the energy and phenomena of mystics, mythology, belief, religion, imaginations, puzzles, delusions, intrigues, contradictions and deceptions, etc., just like the religion that covered the entire Piscean Age, which was consisted of two conflicting worships, ImageGTF/TwoFishes namely monotheism and polytheism concurrently, which would spread through out the world. The Piscean Age is also the age of chemistry, chemical explosives, drug, alcohols, herbal medicines, agriculture, music and arts, etc..

Left:- The symbol of Piscean Age (my estimate from 2nd century BC - mid 20th century AD).

And the age before that (roughly 4300 years ago), namely the Age of Aries, being the 1st Constellation of the Zodiac, had brought about the dawn of human civilization in many parts of the world. Astrologically this age is ruled by planet Mars, and the discovery of bronze weapons in this age also marks the start of large scale human wars. Now the new discovery of mass destructive weapons in Aquarian Age could start off the wars of mass destruction, unless the human civilization is adequately warned and prepared to understand it.  It appears that the excess of each preceding age brings about the imminent change and arrival of the succeeding age. The predictability of astrological science has been timelessly proven correct, and the actual happenings in individual and social life, even in civilization, has confirmed the science without a doubt. Alone in the last one century, in fact just in the last decade alone, the observable switch of collective phenomena from Piscean Age to Aquarian Age has been remarkably apparent and affirmative. And now, more and more discoveries of historical evidences are exposing the hidden mysteries and true backgrounds of some religions. Obviously this is barely the beginning of many more revelations to come.

Roughly 6100 years ago (4000 to 2200 BC) was the start of Age of Taurus. This age is ruled by planet Venus, symbolized by the bull. This is the age of huge construction using bull like human strength. In this age Stone Hinge, Pyramids were constructed and agriculture had begun. Then the age prior to this was the Age of Gemini (4000 to 6200 BC). This age was ruled by planet Mercury, the planet of thinking. This was the age that humans began to learn to think. It was the true beginning of civilization but without written language or records.

The next age is the Age of Capricorn (roughly 2000 years from now).  The Capricorn Age is a tough one. Life on earth would be extremely hard, difficult, poor, bitter, inadequate, restrictive and unforgiving, unless human civilization, especially human relationships, are highly tolerant and mature. This is possible because during the Aquarian Age (into which we have recently entered) great revelations of humanitarian philosophy could take place (even the animals are beginning to receive humane considerations) and bring human civilization towards maturity (unlike the wars of Arian Age and the blind belief of Piscean Age). However, if this does not happen, then it would appear that something extremely cruel and destructive has happened to earth during the present Aquarian Age. This age will also last 2160 years. It probably happens because everything on earth is heavily contaminated with radiation, which could take a couple of millenniums to dissipate due to the long "half life" of radioactive materials. In which case, crops could not be eaten and most animals would die. Probably only oceanic fish could sustain some lives... Astrologers are all familiar with the characteristics of Capricorn, which is ruled by Saturn. Although we don't know yet exactly when it would begin. But arrival of this age is unavoidable. Even without astrology, or even without the threat of global warming, it is conceivable that the underground oil reserve is not inexhaustible and the increasing need of energy might have to depend on radioactive substance for another 2000 years (other sources of powers from nature are not enough). This would mean that a couple of thousand years from now human race would have to live with dangerous levels of nuclear energy, even without the nuclear third world war. However, from now on, every invasion or aggression, be it military or ideological, political or religious, will bring us all steps closer to a nuclear confrontation. Perhaps by that time humans have already migrated to Moon or Mars, and would only come back to earth after the Capricorn Age is over.

However, if such an unfortunate scenario is not caused by natural catastrophe, then it's possible that it is the result of human's own self undoing, i.e. massive suicidal nuclear wars, or over use nuclear energy. Because the melting down of polar ice is a gradual process, which could still be dealt with and made livable, and therefore would not be that bad. Beyond that, the earth is generally protected by large neighbouring planets, such as Saturn and Jupiter, from attack of meteorites, which happens only once in millions of years. But the danger of contaminating the world with wars or other causes of over dose radiation can be a reality. e can only hope that the humans are not likely to be the cause of the Capricorn Age.. Besides, the last time earth safely went through another Capricorn Age, it was roughly say 24,000 years ago. Of course the human was not so advanced and dangerous yet, therefore the last age of Capricorn was not so devastating. Perhaps archeologists and scientists would be able to dig out some comparative information by studying the earth crust, or ice cores dating back to say 25,000 to 30,000 years ago ... I do believe that astrological warning is valid, and have demonstrated quite a number of astrological predictions in the enclosed First Letter and Second Letter to Deng Xiao Ping, which were also sent to UN. Those predictions were written well ahead the actual occurrence of events, but I am only an amateur student of astrology, although I have been a member of the American Federation of Astrologers for almost two decades.
