The followings are exerts taken from 4 books written on ancient
history of China. I have high lighted only a couple of lines describing the
ancestral roots of the great DaYu (
) or his
father Ghun (
). These
high lighted lines state that Yu and Ghun were the offspring
of Emperor Zhuan Xu (
) who was in turn
the grandson of Huangdi (
).

On the left is page #4 of the book No. 24 in the
Bibliography, The high lighted part
is
translated as "There was a man named Ghun alias Rok Yang
who was an offspring of Huangdi..... During Yau's rein Ghun was the tribal chief
of Xia. Yau gave him an Earldom (
) and created him
the Earl of Chung (
), which is in today's He Nan Province
near the Mountain of Chung and he also bestowed Ghun the surname Si (
).
......

On
the left is page No.78 from the book No. 26 in the Bibliography.
The passage discusses the origin of the surname Yu (
).
The high-lighted script translates as " The surname Yu stemmed from the ancestral
name of Si (
). It was said that during the
rein of Yau as the joint chief of tribes, great floods ravaged central China.
Emperor Yau first used Emperor Zhuan Xu' grandson Earl Ghun to curb the floods.
But Ghun used the methods of blocking the flooding water and failed. When
Emperor Sun took the rein, he banished Ghun and later executed him. Then Sun
used Ghun's son Yu to continue the great task, and also ordered other tribal
chiefs to help him. Yu finally achieved the
goal....
On the left is the page No.418 of the
book No.27 in the Bibliography. It says " According to "Historic
Records"
(
) by Si Ma-Chin (
)
in the Volume of History of Xia (
), Yu (
), alias Wen Ming, was the son of Earl
Ghun of Chung, who was, in fact, the grand son of Emperor Zhuan Xu (
),
a descendant of Huangdi....... Yu was also given the surname Si (
).
At the time of Yau's rein disastrous floods ravaged the land. Life was perilous and
unsettling. In order to curb floods Yau took the advise from his 4 ministers, who
recommended Ghun to be responsible for the task. Ghun used the methods of
blocking the floods and tried for 9 years without success. When Sun ascended as
emperor, he executed Ghun for
his many failures. Emperor Sun then used Ghun's son Yu to succeed the father's work.
Sun also ordered 3 other tribal chiefs to assist him. The great Yu fought with
flood water all over the country for 13 years. 3 times his work brought him passed his
own house, but he did not go in. Eventually Yu succeeded by
channeling the floods into the sea...
On the left here is the page 304 of the book
No.25 in the Bibliography. It is about the origin of the surname
Xia, which is the name of Emperor Yu's dynasty and the original domain of
Earldom. The high-lighted words refer o the surname Xia, which state " It comes from name Xia Hau, as the
descendant of the great Emperor Yu, which also stems from the surname Si (
). Da Yu (
) was also an offspring of
Huangdi. In the time when Yau was the Joint Chief of all tribes, Da Yu achieved
great merits by curbing the floods successfully. Yu became the emperor after
Emperor Sun abdicated in his favour.
Yu, however, was succeeded by his son Chi (
),
thus started the tradition of imperial succession by the first born son......
". This passage in fact describes that Xia and Zeng have the same ancestral origin,
which stemmed from Yu. Yu is the important link and pivot in the DNA chain
between the Zengs and their earliest traceable ancestor Huangdi. ....
Note: There are hundreds of text books on early history of China
written over the past many centuries and dynasties, all of them refer to the amazing story of the
searching for a potential Emperor among the folks of the land and then making him an apprentice
before giving him the absolute power of rule. There are of course no lack of books in praise of the great man Yu, whose courage and utter dedication had conquered the dangerous
forces of nature and turned the ravaging floods into permanently beneficial life
giving waters for the next thousands of years. Therefore, the history of Yu and
that of his
entire Xia Dynasty have been very important to the Chinese history, which
includes the well exposed and detailed records, especially regarding how prince Shao
Kang (
) resurrected
the Xia dynasty and avenged
his father's death.....
The history of Xia then continues to describe how Shao Kang restored the dynasty of Xia and how he created his second son Prince Qu Lie (
) the ruler of the State of Zeng (
or
about 1850 BC ). However in the 6th year of Duke Siang of the State of Lu (
567 BC) the Zeng State was plundered and destroyed by the State of Ju (
). The Prince of Zeng at the time named Wu (
) fled to the State of Lu (
) and remained there in the service of Lu. He dropped the (
) part (which denotes the domain) from our surname Zeng (
). This was the beginning of our surname becoming Zeng (
), which remains unchanged today.
Of all the many historical descriptions I have taken 4 short passages only to show that Yu was a direct descendant of Huangdi, in order to prove that the unbroken strand of Zeng's DNA is traceable through authentic records for almost 50 centuries...... . Back to 5000 years DNA page
